tired=cranky

Yes, when Beba gets tired she gets really cranky. (You didn't think I was talking about myself, did you?!) So when I can tell she needs a nap, I wrap her up gently (!) in a blanket (you know what I mean),

and I sing her a lullaby while swaying back and forth...

And then we both lie down on the floor for a short nap. I even make little pretend snoring noises to help her sleep. It's just what she needs to recharge her batteries! Posted by Picasa

Poor Beba!

I doubt you remember, I hardly do, but Beba used to be very pretty and clean with beautiful hair. See? This is what she looked like when Nana first gave her to me for my birthday:

Boy, do I love Beba. And hard. This is what she looks like now, after lots of loving and a few trips through the washer and dryer:

Kind of scary, isn't it?

An early morning portrait

But the question is, is this a cute half-smile,

or a devious, scheming grin?

Busy busy busy

It seems like there's always something going on around here, and I've always got something to do. Like drink my milk,

or look at pictures,

Or make noise.

And then of course, there are balls to play with.

I lead a very busy life, as you can see! Posted by Picasa

Happy Birthday, Max!

On Saturday my friend Max had a birthday party. He turned 2!

Do you remember when I went to his first birthday party a year ago? I've changed so much, click here to see a picture from that post.

I had a fun time playing with the older kids.

There were lots of balls there for me to play with...

And I mean lots!

Are you getting a clearer picture of my fascination with balls?

But overall, we had a great time. Thanks for inviting us, Max! Posted by Picasa

So happy!

I just have to say how nice it is to not be sick all the time anymore. I'm sooo happy now! I was happy before too, but I'm all smiles now.

I've got a new dance step, too, which I show off in the video below. Mama thinks I've been secretly watching the movie Flashdance - Remember that song "Maniac"?

A special day

This past Sunday was Mother's Day and Grandma Ward's birthday. So I got all dressed up and put a bow in my hair, and Grandma and Granddaddy came over to our house for lunch.

Daddy did most of the work, but Mama and I wanted to help in the kitchen a little too. Since we were dressed up, we had to put on aprons to protect our clothes from the mess we were sure to make.

Mmmm, we had mashed potatoes and salmon. Yum!

And of course no gathering is complete until I show everyone my belly button!

I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille!

Share and share alike

Even if I've already eaten my breakfast, I like to have some of Mama's cereal too. (Besides, she's using my bowl, it says "Resli" on it!) She sits down with me on the floor because she doesn't have a high chair.

Touchdown!

Daddy likes to read me My First Gators Book. In it, the Gators score a touchdown, which I celebrate with one or two arms up, depending on how I feel. (Are you realizing that the kitchen floor is one of my favorite places to sit? We're not too sure why...)

I can't get enough of balls these days. . .

"Ball" was my first real word and even though I can say a few more things, I love that one! See, I have a little one (in my hand) and a big green one (I can say "green" sort of too). I like kicking the green one around the house.

A real turtle

The other day Grandma and Granddaddy Ward came over with a turtle they'd found in their yard. I'd never seen a turtle before. They told me to smell it, that's what I'm doing in this picture. (It didn't smell so great!)

I even touched it a little bit. It's called a leatherback, but since I don't really know what leather feels like, well, the whole thing was lost on me. But Granddaddy says there aren't many turtles like this, and this big, left around here, so I'm glad I got to see it!

Oh, and I washed my hands afterwards, don't worry!

Uh oh!

The nose came off of my cat towel!

A very important lesson

OK class, now pay attention...
I am now officially 15 months old.
Any questions?

What's for dessert?

I do love me a good banana after supper. I have to work on my portion control sometimes, though, don't you think?

By the way, I do have all 16 teeth now, so I can bite into just about anything.

!Buenas noches!

Every night before bed, we walk around the house saying goodnight to everything. Lately, I've gotten very good at blowing kisses to things too.
Here I am saying goodnight to Nana...

Surgery Day - May 2nd

Today was my surgery. I had my adenoids removed and had tubes put in both ears. We had to get to the operating room really early, at 7:30 in the morning. So I stayed in my pajamas, and so did Beba.

We had to wait a long time, but at least there were a few good books to read in the waiting room. Let me tell you that I was NOT at all happy about having that hospital bracelet on my wrist, by the way. Not fun at all.

Finally we went back into the pre-op room and I got into my hospital gown. Even the nurses said I was very cute in it...

The only problem is that it provides so little cover in the back, what indecency!

And then to make matters worse they had to take my blood pressure with this tiny little pressure cuff.

Nope, I was not happy about that either. But then I got some drops in my nose and forgot what I was sad about. In fact, I forgot to think about much of anything.

Next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery room. I was asleep for about an hour, and it took me about an hour and a half to fully come out of that drug-haze -- I was pretty unhappy waking up. I had this tube blowing oxygen in my face, cotton stuffed in both ears, a stitch on my eyelid, a pulse-oximeter on my finger and an IV in my hand. Would you like to wake up this way?

But in the end I woke up and everything was fine. Here I am in the car home, mostly awake and mostly peaceful. And now, at 5 in the afternoon, I feel pretty good. I'm a little wobbly still, but I'm happy and smiling and pretty much over it all. And hopefully, I'm going to be a healthy little girl from now on! Posted by Picasa

Beautiful weekend weather

Even though it's May and the hot humid summer is right around the corner, we had great weather this past weekend. So I ran out the front door to play outside.

And I found dirt! What fun...

What? What are you guys laughing at??

Dad and I smelled the flowers,

and I tried my hand at gardening,

even tried to climb the rope ladder.

Enough fun is enough, let me out! Posted by Picasa
My cuts are healing very well, see?!? Posted by Picasa
