Happy Anniversary, Mami and Daddy!

Yesterday my parents celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary. They didn't take me (or Lela), but apparently they went to a movie in the middle of the day - how decadent!

Rumor has it that Miss Jenifer is coming to my house tonight so they can go out to dinner too. Won't that be fun for us all?

Musings from Mami: When did we outgrow our car?

When I purchased my Honda Civic in 1996, I thought I was making a wise long-term purchase, because with its 4 doors and roomy trunk, it would be a great family car. Well, between two adults, two children, a stroller, lunches and diaper bags and briefcases, we're choc full.

When did I become the kind of person that coveted minivans?

Happy Birthday, Adam!

We went to my friend Adam's birthday party at his house today. (It took me a while to stop confusing my friend Adam with my uncle Adam - even as we pulled up to the house I kept singing happy birthday to Uncle Adam...)
Adam's house has a wonderful big pool that Mami and I played in a little bit.

It took me a while to not be scared of the water, it has been almost a year since I'd been in a pool.

But eventually I let go and had a little fun.

After that came lunch and then, the best part, birthday cake!
Here's a picture of Adam, to my right, getting ready to enjoy his cake.

I shared a chair with my friend Jake and we all helped Adam blow out his candles.

And then Jake and I went to town on our cake, YUM YUM!

Movin' on up

Well, it's actually more like moving down. See, I got this new seat for the car. It's a booster seat, it's not even a car seat. That's what a big girl I am!

I actually still fit fine in my old one, but Lela was outgrowing her bucket (she grows fast, doesn't she?), so she needed to use my other seat. So now I get to sit on my little booster and use the real seat belt. I can see out the window a little better, even though I'm lower, because there are no sides. I'm pretty psyched about it!

How much am I worth?

How much do you think I'll scan for? Anyone think it's about $847.63?

No, of course you can't put a price tag on me. I'm priceless!

Daddy-daughter time

Daddy just loves spending time with me and Lela. Don't you, Daddy?

See? He acts all silly to make us both laugh. And it works!

You're so much fun, Daddy!

Diinner with my little sister

This is a video Lela just put up on her blog. She's started eating real food, so we all eat dinner together now. It's lots of fun, and we all get pretty silly together.

Family vacation in Denver, Colorado

Last weekend we all went to Denver to visit my Uncle Adam, who's there working with the Democratic National Convention. It was our first trip as a family of four, and I was very excited about it!
We drove to Tampa and then took an airplane to Colorado. I got to sit by the window so I could see us fly, but I was also interested in the books I brought with me. Lela hung out with Daddy and Mami, but I got my own seat.

We had a great hotel there where I had my own room and my very own bed. There was a living room area too, where I could sit and play. I got a whole set of princess jewelry to play dress up with, and I did dress up quite a bit.

I also enjoyed the dishtowels as dressup toys though. In this picture below, I have "glass slippers" and a "beautiful blue ball gown" on, just like in the Cinderella story. Nobody can say I lack imagination, that's for sure.

Of course, sometimes we just sat and played. I had to help keep Lela company because she's not as used to traveling to strange places as I am. We were glad to have each other.

One day we drove up into the mountains. We were up high, like 8000 feet, and there was a lot of snow up there! We don't see much snow down here in Florida, so that was exciting.

We got to Red Rock park and walked around there some. It was windy, though, and sometimes the wind freaks me out a little, so I was happy to have Daddy there to comfort me.

Here's a picture of all of us who were there:
Mami, Lela, me, Daddy, Uncle Adam, Aunt Melissa, Uncle Mathias, Nana and cousin Chris.

And, of course, we had to get a Ward family photo, since we keep changing so much!

It was a great family vacation, and I was so happy to see my aunts and uncles and cousins and nana. . . I miss you all already!

Munchin' on some corn

We had corn at dinner the other night. I like corn any way you can serve it, but boy did I enjoy eating it right off the cob.

And check out Lela in the background... I guess she wanted to munch on something too.

She hasn't started eating real food yet, but soon she will...

Daddy furniture

Lela and I like nothing more than hanging out on our favorite couch, reading, playing, and laughing. We spend hours every weekend this way.

By the way, by "favorite couch" we mean DADDY!
