This sleeping thing is getting crazy

Now not only do I insist (and I mean insist, like nobody but a 2-year-old can) that I wear my shoes to sleep, but I also have to take my (cold, hard, metal) Dora lunch box in there with me. Not to mention all the usual suspects - Zoe, Elmo, Osito, blocks, books, etc.

Mami and Daddy's only victory in all this is that I'm now content to wear a new pair of sandals that are too big for me, so they go on over the PJs. And they have straps so they stay on, so no more panicked fits of crying in the middle of the night when a shoe comes off. (The fight now is convincing me that I can't wear these sandals during the day.)

Give a cheer for the orange and blue...

Daddy taught me the Florida fight song.

I still don't know all the words, but I'm getting there!
Go Gators!

I'm so cool

We're not sure where she learned this, but Resli's favorite thing to do with her sunglasses these days is put them up on her head. Like all the coolest kids do.

My latest obsession

(Yes, sleeping with my "party shoes" on.)

Breakfasttime fun

Sometimes in the mornings, when Daddy is getting my breakfast ready, he lets me sit on the counter!

I have to be very careful and not move around too much, but it's so much fun!

Developing opinions of my own

Ready for a big girl bed?

Neither I nor my parents think I'm anywhere close to ready for a big girl bed. But the last time we were at the mall, I sure found this model bed (complete with kitty theme) enticing...

Twinkle twinkle little star

Here's a video of me singing "Twinkle twinkle little star...".
I jumped the gun a little and started before Mami had the camera on, so she had to ask me to start again.

Even though I mostly speak English these days, "Brilla brilla" slipped out once there in the middle! Hopefully I won't forget all my Spanish.

An adventure at the carwash

I don't know if you guys have ever seen these carwash things that Mami said was giving our car a bath, but they're pretty interesting. At first, it was fun - it was like driving in the rain, and I thought it was funny.

Then a big sponge thing came up to the window. I thought that was a little weird...

And then these bristle things attacked our car! I turned to Mami for help but she was laughing at the expression on my face. Can you believe that?!

Take it from me, don't bother washing your car, these things are scary!

Tea party with Grandaddy

I invited Grandaddy over for tea the other day. I poured it for both of us, and he helped with the milk and the sugar.

Cheers! Drink up!

Anyone else want to come over for a tea party at the Dora table? I make a mean cup of tea (I get it from my Nana and her mother, both big tea drinkers... It must run in my blood.)

I fell down the slide

I had a little mishap on the slide last weekend. This video tells a bit of the story, although not as well as I had been telling it. For a while there, I was telling anyone and everyone the whole story with no prompting.

And here's a picture of the resulting injury:

But like I said, Resli's OK now, no need to worry.

ANOTHER birthday party

On my real birthday last Thursday Daddy and Mami came to my school and brought cupcakes for my teachers and my friends (and me, of course).

Boy, do I love cupcakes!

Especially the icing!

I was the only one in my class to eat the whole thing, can you believe that?

My two morning teachers, Miss Dani and Miss Jenifer, gave me an Elmo puzzle for my birthday, which we all thought was very sweet of them. Daddy and I spent a long time that evening trying to figure out how to put it together. (It takes Daddy a while...)

I had such a great birthday week, don't you think?
PS - If you want to see pictures of my friends from school, there are more here.

Happy Birthday to Resli!

Well, blogger fans, believe it or not, I'm two years old!

I barely believe it myself sometimes, where have the last 24 months gone?
(The good thing about this blog is that you can use those links over on the right side of the page and look through the 'archives' to see exactly where those months are!)

On the eve of my second birthday...

I decided to show off my singing skills.
Here's a video of me singing the alphabet song. And at the end, for good measure, I sing another round of Happy Birthday (to me). For some reason, I get very silly singing both songs, maybe because I'm so excited?

My 2nd Birthday party

My real birthday isn't for a few more days, but we had a party to celebrate this past weekend. I was so happy to have everyone come to my party - Mami and Daddy, of course, were there, and so were Grandma and Granddaddy Ward, Aunt Liz and Uncle Brian, Nana, Aunt Melissa and Uncle Mathias, Rori and Peter and Max, Theresa and Erica! (Poor David was sick, so he and his parents Bonnie and Joaquim couldn't make it. :( We hope he's doing better now!)

I got all dressed up in my special party dress and my princess shoes. Don't I look pretty?

Then we had lunch, and Max and I had a tea party. Max said he was having 'soup', but I thought it was tea. Must be a guy thing...

After lunch we opened presents. Everyone was so nice to me, I got some wonderful books and toys and clothes. Thank you, everyone!

My Aunt Liz and Uncle Brian gave me my first pair of Vans - they're pink with kitty cats on them. Pretty snazzy, eh?

Then we had CAKE! As you can tell from the hats, we had a whole Elmo theme going on. Look at the awesome cake Mami made me! It's Elmo! (She's very proud of her cake...)

I needed a little help blowing out my candles -- I had two whole candles, you see, and that's double the number of candles I had last year! But with Mami and Daddy's help, we blew them out and cut the cake up and everyone got to eat some. It was delicious!

What a wonderful party it was. I even learned the "happy birthday" song and sang it over and over. And in case you were wondering, I'm STILL singing it, over and over...

(PS - There are many many pictures from my party that didn't make it on to the blog. But if you want to see them, including a whole "making the Elmo cake" series, they are at www.dropshots.com/glordward.)

Earning my keep

Now that I'm almost 2 years old, I have to start earning my keep around the house. So I have to do the dishes after breakfast every mornng...

I don't mind much, though, because I love playing with water!

It was a rough night...

When Daddy came to tuck me in the other night, this is the scene he found!

I apparently felt the need to get rid of just about everyone and everything in my crib before going to sleep.
But the next morning I was just as happy and chipper as ever. No sign of the rough night, except maybe a little bedhead...

Brrrr!

We've had some pretty cold weather down here in Florida lately. I had to get out my winter hat!

Of course, it didn't last long, I'm not much for covering my head. But it sure was chilly!
