I've been a very sick little girl

I've been really sick this week. I have some flu or cold or something that's upsetting my tummy, destroying my appetite, giving me a fever over 103, and making me cough a lot. I've been pretty miserable since Thursday evening, but today (Sunday), I might actually be feeling a little better.
Because I haven't been able to eat or drink hardly anything, Mami and Daddy gave me a popsicle to see if I would like that. I called it "lemonade on a stick", and I did eat some of it.

Most of the time though, I sat around in my diaper (because my fever was making me soooo hot) and whined and moaned and coughed.

Luckily, Mami and Daddy have been letting me do that and hopefully I'll be back to my happy playful self tomorrow, or very soon. But it's been a long few days.

More of my dance moves

Remember the days when I used to do "The Resli" all the time? Well, I've added two new dances to my repertoire.
This is me doing ballet. (I think I learned this from Zoe's dancing video...?)

I also do a lot of "polkas" - nobody knows where I picked that up. In this video Mami is trying to get me to do a polka for you all, but I refuse. Instead I claim that I'm dancing the "Strawberry Shortcake" dance (and kicking a ball in between).
[This may shock you, but the Polka and the Strawberry Shortcake dance are strikingly similar... You may note some shades of The Resli in there too.]

Here's a bonus video too, to show you why there aren't more videos of me these days. I'm a very difficult subject!

My role as a big sister

We've been talking a lot about what my job as a "big sister" is.
Right now, I talk to my baby brother or sister (through Mami's tummy, weird!), and I pat it hello and goodbye, and kiss it every now and then.

I've promised to share my toys, as well as to teach it to "walk and sing". But Mami and Daddy say it's a while before I'll have to do all that.
For now though, it's growing pretty fast - check here for its updates!

Mami's back from Kentucky!

I had such a great time with Daddy this weekend.

But I'm glad Mami's home. . . She brought me a special t-shirt from Kentucky, see?

Keeping busy while Mami was away

Daddy and I did lots of fun things together while Mami was away, like reading and playing outside, and especially coloring. I really like coloring.

It was hard to have fun without Mami, but somehow I managed to pull through and find a smile here and there!

UPDATE: Do I still wear shoes to bed?

In case you were wondering, I'm slowly getting over that phase where I had to wear shoes to bed. However, now I like to wear a T-shirt over my pajamas. Occasionally shorts, too, if they're clean.

Taking care of Daddy again

Longtime fans of Resli's World will remember a few months ago when Mami went to a conference (that means a big meeting) in Canada and it was my job to take care of Daddy. Well, since Daddy and I both survived that trip, Mami accepted an invitation to another conference this week, so I'm taking care of Daddy again. Daddy was a little worried, but I told him it would be ok, and so far it's been lots of fun.

Daddy doesn't really know how to put my boots on, so I took over. We worked on this for quite a while this morning, but as Kenny Rogers once said, you gotta know when to fold 'em. I don't really know what that means, but Daddy said it right before we decided I was going to wear sandals to school today.

By the way, Mami's conference is in a place called Kentucky. Daddy showed it to me on the map, but I'm having a hard time finding it again. He'll have to show me again tomorrow. Geography isn't my best subject - I'm much better at coloring and dancing.

Daddy and I made a nice pasta dinner (ok, mostly Daddy made it - I had to take care of Dora, you know). But it just wasn't the same without Mami there. And why is my pasta all different colors?

I finished it all anyway. Even the red ones. Then I ate some apple slices and some grapes and lots of Cheerios for dessert. Yeah, I know not everyone likes Cheerios for dessert, but I do, and it's my dessert.

Daddy helped me take a bath (it wasn't a hair-washing night, so it was lots of fun) and helped me get dressed and then Mami called us on the phone! I had fun talking to her, but I think it's a lot more fun to push the buttons on the phone than talk on it. I told Mami that Daddy's ok and I'm taking care of everything so she shouldn't worry.

Whew! What a long day. I'd better get a good night's rest so I can take care of Daddy tomorrow and Saturday.

Two dinnertime videos

Here are two videos of me eating dinner.
In the first one I'm eating lentil soup and whole grain bread and loving every minute of it. Mami asked me to smile in the beginning, which is what my cheezy grin was all about. She wanted to see me eat with a spoon too, but I had discovered the joy of using my bread to eat the soup with. Also check out my vivid imagination (Elmo sightings all around the house) and my counting skills.

In this second video, Mami just liked the way I say "couscous". I'm eating with my new favorite toy, a Dora figurine.

Dinner is always a fun time in our house!

Spring shopping

We realized the other day that I have very few spring/summer clothes that fit me - I keep growing! So we took a trip to Old Navy and, thanks to their stupendous sales, I got myself a shopping bag full of goodies.

These striped shorts are pretty cute, aren't they? (And they show off my dual booboos/bandaids, courtesy of what Daddy and I are calling "concrete burn" that I got when I was running around the fountain playing outside Mami's office last week.)

And no girl's wardrobe would be complete without a pair of "gaucho" pants, would it? And Mami just loves this striped shirt on me, she says I look good in bright colors.

Now I'm ready for spring!

Orange and Blue

Last weekend the Gator football team played their spring scrimage game, The Orange and Blue Game. We didn't go, it was hot and hectic and during my naptime, but Mami and Daddy and I all got dressed in orange shirts, black pants/shorts, and blue hats.

But then I traded my hat for Mami's glasses!

Whatever, we all looked pretty school-spirited. And I hear it was a good game, too. We're looking forward to a great football season this fall!

I'm groggy in the mornings...

This morning as soon as I got up I was desperate to read a new book that I'd left in the living room. So I staggered in there in my pajamas and my bed-head to find it. Mami thought I looked funny so she took some pictures.

Sure, laugh, but how good do you look first thing in the morning?

Another fun spring break day

Tuesday was my last day of Spring Break, so Mami and I had another fun day together.

First, we went to the library again, where they were having story time -- in Spanish!
There were a lot of kids there, some old friends and some new.

After the story (La cigarra y la hormiga) we got to get up and dance around.

My favorite part was when I put a diaper on my head and went and told all the kids to "Look at my hat!" (This was after I told them all, "Hi! I'm Pablo!")

After the library we went to Mami's office for a little while. We played near the fountain that I loved so much last week,

but we didn't get to play in the fountain because it was so cold.

(OK, maybe I snuck a hand or two in the water when I thought Mami wasn't looking!)

And then for the rest of the afternoon I entertained myself by taking off my pants, trying on Mami's shoes, and saying "Oh my goodness!" because they were so big on me.

I'm glad to be back at school now, but I sure had a great spring break!

A new place to read

Sometimes this is my favorite way to read a good book.

It doesn't really matter where, as long as it's on the floor (and probably in someone's way).

Mami thinks I look very grown up like this...

HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter, everyone!
We had a great Easter this year, even though it was really chilly down here. (I had to wear a turtleneck under my fancy Easter dress!)
Here I am all dressed up:

I discovered that the Easter Bunny had come and left me a basket!

It was full of all kinds of fun things:

The Easter Bunny also hid some eggs around the house (too cold outside!), but I found them all pretty quickly. Most of them were filled with goldfish crackers, yummy!

But one of them was filled with jelly beans. Grandma let me eat one - I liked it!

Grandma made me a great toy, too - I learned to "fish" with it!

I couldn't have asked for a better day. I can't wait for next Easter!

Cleaning house

I helped Mami and Daddy clean the house on Saturday.

I was very helpful with the duster, and I even moved stuff to dust under and around it (Daddy doesn't always do that...)!

I have a surprise!

I've kept quiet about this surprise as long as I can, but I can't anymore. Click here to find out what my news is!

Spring break

I'm on spring break this week - my daycare is closed for 10 days! So today Mami and I had a fun vacation day together. First we went to a playground. Then we went to the library and read all kinds of books. While we were there, they took our picture for the local paper - here we are:

The Library has databases for people of all ages. Pictured here, Youth Services Librarian Laurie Baker helps Resli Ward and her mom, Gillian Ward, find online children's books on Tumblebooks, one of the databases available at the Library's web site.

After that we went and played in the fountain on UF's campus near Mami's office - I ran around in my diaper! (The undergrads were immensely amused by that.) Unfortunately, even though Mami took some really cute pictures there, either Mami lost the camera or it was stolen while she was chasing me around campus, so those pictures are unfortunately gone. Sorry...
But I'm still enjoying my spring break!
