Baths can be . . . FUN?!?!?

Well, sure they can be fun. IF you put a lot of bubbles in. AND you promise seventeen gazillion times that you won't wash my hair or pour water on my head. Then it's just great!

Who am I?

Lateley, I'm in to impersonating some of my favorite characters. (This means, usually, that I walk around saying, "I'm so-and-so" and referring to myself in the third person with that character's name.)
Some days I'm Tyrone or Pablo or Austin from The Backyardigans.
Other days, I like to be Diego, who is Dora's cousin. (He works at an Animal Rescue Center.) The other day, I decided that I wanted to dress like Diego too. See, he wears shorts and boots and a vest. So I wore the same thing. Don't we look identical?

Being silly with bandaids

I think BandAids are just about the coolest thing ever. You don't need a booboo, you just stick them on wherever you want.
You have to be careful, though, because on your forehead they can pinch your hair - ow!

You can put them on as a mustache -- taa-daa!

Or you can put them on your nose!

Either way, they're a great toy, aren't they?

Still not fond of the baths

I'm still in my aversion-to-baths phase. So we've been taking showers lately.
I get to shower in Mami and Daddy's bathroom, and I just love it in there!

If the truth be told, I'm still not at all happy about having my hair washed, but it's slightly less traumatic in the shower, and it's over more quickly.

And then I wash Daddy's hair. (And the whole time, I tell him "It's OK Daddy", because I know how easy it is to be scared of that!)

Future president

In my house, we're all big John Edwards fans. (My uncle Adam even works for his campaign!) But he should know that I have my sights set on the White House too, and shouldn't underestimate me.... if not for '08, then some other time!

Thanks, Meliss and Mathias!

For Christmas last year I got a cute red and white outfit from Meliss and Mathias. (In fact, I believe there are pictures of me in it over my pajamas...). Well, I wore it to school today, and boy was it cute!

The best part was that I told everyone that "missa" and "thias" gave it to me.

Look, there are balloons on it!

New bathtime fears

I used to LOVE the bath. All of a sudden, though, I decided towards the end of last week that it wasn't fun anymore. I got really scared of getting my hair washed, especially, but I cried and screamed and hated every minute of it, and just wanted to get out. I even talk about it during the day ("lie back, look up at the sky, Resli's OK, no hurt you").
We decided one night to try having Mami take a bath with me. As you can see, I wasn't much happier, although it was a little less traumatic.

Since then, Mami's done some research on the Internets and discovered that: a) this is VERY normal for my age; b) we've already tried most of the things the "experts" recommend to get over this fear; and c) the general consensus is that this is a very real fear to a two-year-old and so it should be respected. In other words, continuing to insist on a bath is not a good idea. So for now, no more baths. I got my hair washed in th kitchen sink tonight and then took a quick sponge bath before putting my pajamas on. We hope this phase doesn't last long...

Daddy and me wearing our caps

We went for a walk the other day and Daddy and I both wore our baseball caps. (He wore his because he didn't want to get sunburned, I wore mine because he wore his.)

Then we compared to see whose was cooler. Mine, right?

On to round 2

The Gators won their first March Madness game this past week. I'm sure it was because of my school spirit cheering them on. I wore my favorite Gator dress.

I got out my shakers and shook them.

And I did a few Gator chomps!

They play again this afternoon. Daddy and I are going to watch them and do some more cheering!

My classmates

At school, we got our class pictures last week. Here are all my teachers and my friends in class:

My teachers are Miss Dani, Miss Jenifer and Miss Allison.
In the top row are me, Asher and Sam. The second row is Cosette, Jennie, Brinkley and Hannah Grace. The first girl on the bottom row left shortly after I got there, so I don't remember her name. Next to her are Jacob, Jake and Amelia. (I can name every single one of them!)
Oh, and I'm holding Elmo. Of course.

So exciting...

The greatest news of my weekend is the new addition to my wardrobe: Dora Pull-Up Diapers!
(I call them "Dora panties"...)
I'm so excited about them I don't want to put my pants back on, because I want to be able to see Dora and Boots all the time.

See them?

How awesome is that?!?

March madness begins again...

It's that time of year again, basketball's March Madness is starting up.
Nobody really knew what a basketball fan I was, but after I got up from my nap today all I wanted to do was sit in Mami's lap and watch the game. Really, I didn't move for, like, 20 minutes! (Which amused Mami, I'm hardly ever that quiet anymore these days!)

Note Mami's very spirited orange shirt. I forgot to wear my gator colors, but it's ok because they won their game today anyway - winning their third consecutive SEC tournament!

Spring has sprung!

We have had absolutely beautiful weather these past few days, sunny and warm, perfect springtime weather.
So yesterday Mami and I packed up our stroller and our trusty Dora lunchbox and we walked to the elementary school playground near our house.
First order of business: SNACK!

Then I did some climbing and exploring in my favorite blue tunnel.

Of course, I swung from these bars again too.

An then on the way back to our house, Mami was so tired out I had to push the stroller all the way home!

But that's OK, because I took a good nap then too. And it was a wonderful way to spend a few hours!

Granddaddy's birthday party

Today we celebrated Granddaddy's birthday. We had lunch and presents...
and a cake with candles! Granddaddy let me help him blow them out, and he even let everyone sing to me after they sang to him. (I'm having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that not only is it not my birthday every day, but that other people have birthdays too!)

I got to see my Aunt Lizzie as well. I was very nice to her, I gave her a great big kiss hello!

And what party would be complete without Uncle Brian's hat?!!?

(See here, for example, for a previous encounter with another one of Brian's fascinating hats.)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDDADDY!

Playing outdoors

Today was a beautiful day and we got to play outside.
I've redefined what I consider "swinging", because sitting on the swing (like Mami is) no longer satisfies me.

I prefer instead to swing like a monkey from the bar.
Look how strong I am!

I also got to "ride" the John Deere, which I think is one of the coolest things ever.

It was great to have such a nice sunny day after so much rain! And it was a perfect day for a party.

I discovered the North Pole!

Ever since Christmas, I've been wondering where Santa and Frosty have gone. Everyone keeps saying they've gone back to the North Pole. . .
Well, when I was exploring Grandma and Graddaddy's yard, I opened up this storage shed and look what I found:

This must be the North Pole, if this is where Frosty and Santa have been all these weeks!

Happy Purim!

At my school this week we had a big Purim celebration. Every day had a theme, and Friday we were supposed to dress up as our favorite Purim characters. Mami and Daddy didn't really know what this meant, but since I'd been studying it all week, I knew that I was supposed to dress like a queen. So I put on my "princess dress" and my "princess shoes" and Mami made me a crown out of construction paper.

Do I look like royalty, or what?

My garage "brickyard"

The other day when Mami's car wasn't in the garage, I created my own racecourse out there. Then I put on my shades, took off my shirt (don't all racecar drivers do that?), and started racing.

Wow, was I going fast - "flat-out" I think they call it.
"Vroom vroom" is what I call it.

My Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Brian must be so proud of me!
PS - The "Brickyard" is the name of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Getting good with a spoon

As you can see, I'm getting much better -and more accurate- at feeding myself.

I enjoy eating much more when I'm in control too. (Hmm, that wouldn't be because I'm two years old, would it?) I even ate spinach and tomatoes and carrots in this soup because I was so impressed with my own spoon skills!

I'm so cool, Part II

Check out the oh-so-casual legs, crossed at the (bare) feet, as I feed myself.
