Working on the whole potty thing

Yep, I'm making some good progress with my potty-learning adventure. For the last five days or so, I've peed in my potty first thing in the morning - isn't that exciting!?!?
I also have occasionally managed to produce something at other times of the day, so I'm getting there. It's fun for me because it's a good opportunity to get some good reading done.

I have excellent books dealing with the whole potty issue, and I've got them pretty much memorized by now.

Of course, it's hard to multi-task when you're only almost-three-years-old. I do get ahead of myself sometimes...

But I'm getting there!

A trip to the farmers market

Yesterday Mami and Daddy and Lela and I went on a special adventure to the Farmers' Market!

It was cold and rainy so we had to wear our rain jackets, and Lela had to get all bundled up in a blanket. (She's there on Mami's chest, see?) We bought a lot of yummy fruits and vegetables and even some delicious multigrain bread. YUM YUM!

Story time with Aunt Melissa

When Aunt Melissa was here visiting, we spent some good quality time together.

She finally got to read me the special book she and Uncle Mathias gave me for Christmas (the one about Dora and RESLI'S rescue adventure). We both enjoyed that!

Lela's baptism

Hi blogfans! I've been very busy lately, which is why I haven't been posting too much. But I wanted to tell you about an exciting event we had last weekend - my baby sister Lela got baptized!
We got her all dressed up in a pretty white dress (that I wore for my baptism almost three years ago) - doesn't she look nice?

We tried to put her in a bonnet too, that Mrs. Cauthon made her, but that didn't last long. It's a good look for a pilgrim though, don't you think?

Anyway, we all went to the church. Uncle Adam and Aunt Melissa were here to help celebrate:

And so were Aunt Liz and Uncle Brian:

Melissa got the privilege of looking after me (read: trying to control me) during the ceremony. I'll bet that was her favorite part of the day!

And the ceremony went really well, I thought. I did have to tell Lela not to be scared when Reverend Loch poured that water on her head, but we all survived with a smile.
Afterwards, we went out to brunch. (And see, of course Grandma and Granddaddy were there too! I just didn't get them in a picture until after church.)

Aaaaaah, BRUNCH! My favorite meal - Uncle Adam and I can agree on that!

Congratulations, Lela! And to my family members - it was great to see you! Come back to visit me soon please!

Lovin' on little Lela

I just love spending time with my little sister Lela. She sits in my lap and we hang out.

We have lots of fun together.

She makes me laugh, and I try to make her laugh.

And I've been letting her know some of the secrets I've learned over the last three years. Living with Mami and Daddy can be tough some times, so I have to teach her how to get away with stuff.

She listens very intently.
She's lucky to have me around to show her the ropes, isn't she?

My new BIG GIRL bed!

Happy New Year everyone!
I started off 2008 with a very exciting development: a big girl bed in my room! I've been such a good sleeper lately that Mami and Daddy decided to set me up in a real bed. (Besides, my baby sister Lela sleeps in a crib, and I'm a much bigger girl than she is, so it's only right for me to have my own bed.)
The first step was to move the futon that's been in my room so we could make space for the bed. I was so anxious that I tried to move it all by myself.

Then we had to get the parts of the bed set up. I was very helpful with this stage too.

After that we had to measure the frame and get the right size board to go under the mattress. Thank goodness I was there with my trusty tape measure.

At last we got the mattress set up - look how high up I am! Whee!

And then we put sheets on and made it all pretty. They're Dora sheets, of course. And at long last, the moment I was waiting for... aaaah, relaxing in my very own bed.

This is so great!

I even took a nap in my bed all by myself, I went to sleep and everything. It must be because this bed used to be my Mami's when she was a little girl. I'm so glad Nana brought it here in her car so that I could use it!
