In the ongoing "real food adventure", I tried sweet potatoes for the first time last week.

They are definitely a prettier color than that oatmeal mush!

But I'm not convinced by the taste...

Eeew, I don't think I really like these.

I mean come on guys, who eats this stuff? 

Nana, my Grandma Nancy, couldn't see my teeth in the other picture and she said I was making the whole thing up. This picture is just for her! 

My daddy and Granddaddy Ward are away this weekend. So mom and Grandma Ward and Aunt Liz and I had a girls' day out shopping! Here I am at the shoe store. What are shoes?

I liked seeing my Aunt Liz - I hadn't seen her in two months.

She has fun hair.

But I had to keep her from talking so much! 

I tried oatmeal for the first time yesterday. It's definitely different...

They should call it messymeal instead of oatmeal!

I love my toys. The chicken and duck make me laugh. 

My big news is that I have two teeth! I don't like anyone taking pictures of them, but you can sort of see them here. They're coming through a little more each day.  

I turned six months old this week, too!

I'm just a happy drooly six-month-old! 

I went to playgroup this week for the first time in a while, since Mom's been working. I got to play with my friend Elle. I think I like her dress better than mine... (My friend Kira's mom, Kristin, took this picture.) 

My aunt Melissa gave me this adorable turtle outfit. The hat is a turtle too, see? It's pretty cute, isn't it? And perfect for the hot sunny Florida summer! 

Last night we tried eating real food for the first time. Mom and dad made me a mixture of breastmilk and rice cereal. It looked kind of icky at first and I was hesitant.

The whole idea of not drinking your meals is very strange to me.

But I'll try anything I guess... so far, it's not that bad...

Wait, you mean I'm supposed to swallow it all too?

I'm not so fond of this food thing. But maybe tomorrow I'll like it better. It might take me a while... 

I'm learning how to drink from a sippy cup too...

although I'm doing a lot of investigating...

and lots of playing, but very little drinking. 

We went to the doctor for my six-month visit today. I'll bet you can imagine how excited my mom was that we were in the turtle room! Dad and I were pretty pumped too. 

The doctor said to practice sitting up in a laundry basket. What fun I'm having! Maybe I'll get clean in here too. 

Mom and I are both glad she's not working this week. We missed each other! (Only two more weeks until the fall semester starts...) 

Mom goes to the gym to work out almost every day. When she does, I get to play with my friends at the KidsClub. We have lots of fun! 

I suck (and bite and chew) on my thumb a lot these days, now that I have a tooth coming in! It's still too small to see in pictures, but we'll take one soon.
